How to Overcome Your Fear of Flying Using Spirituality and The Basics of NLP

overcome fear of flying in 3 easy stepsOvercome your fears by digging into your unconscious patterns, the NLP way

Fear of flying is one of the most common phobias. For many people, flying is a source of great anxiety.

If you’re looking to overcome your fear of flying, you’ll need to let go of your irrational fears.

That doesn’t mean you need to give up, however.

Flying with spirituality can help you do just that.

Here’s how.

The mind becomes fixed in rigid patterns of fear by being trapped in obsessive thoughts and producing endless stories that remind you of the bad things which might happen and create strategies to avoid them. This is one of the basic premises of NLP. You create based on the images you create for yourself, in this case terrifying images, and the things to tell yourself to convince yourself that fear is “normal”.

Presence, meditation, awareness of your conditioning is what we deal with in the 1st module of my healing process called the 3-C process (clear, conceive, create).

Know and understand your fears

No one says you need to be afraid of flying. But many people are, especially people with phobias. The fear of flying is a fear of fear itself. You might be afraid of flying because you’re afraid of how you feel when you fly. The fear of flying is the fear of fear.

You can overcome your fear in as little as a few hours with my intensive coaching program. Are you willing to give it a shot? Or are you attached to your story?

Recognize your irrational fears and observe them

Fears are created from past experiences. Most of us have had experiences that lead us to our fears. Each experience creates a new story for the mind to cling to.

When you recognize your fears and understand the stories that lead to them, you can restructure those stories into new ones with a different meaning. These new meanings are about freedom, pleasure, and enjoyment- things we often associate with travel and freedom.

Grounding and centering

When you’re afraid to fly, you might have a hard time concentrating. You might feel ungrounded and out of your center.

There’s a reason for that. When your mind is anxious, it tends to go somewhere else.

The best way to fight this, is to work on “mindfulness”.

Mindfulness is the ability to be in the moment, instead of letting your mind go somewhere else. You can do this by meditating, doing yoga, or just sitting and focusing on your breath. All of these activities will help you go from being “mindless” to being mindful.

H ere are some affirmations, that help you get grounded before the fears steps in:

  • I am safe and grounded even when I am in a plane
  • I feel protected in this world.
  • All is well in my world.
  • I deserve to be safe at all times.

I’ll help you get your energy back by teaching you practical and fun methods to be mindful.

How does fear affect you spiritually?

Fear is a spiritual problem. It is an illusion of the mind and heart.

Fear is caused by our attachments to this world. We’re not able to accept death because we’re afraid we won’t find something better after death. We fear being separated from the people and things we love.

Find a way to look at your fear of flying in an amusing light.

When you start to see all the reasons why fear of flying is a crazy thought, that’s when it can be funny!

And in those moments when you are just able to pinpoint how chaotic this script sounds – don’t forget to laugh.

-What is funny about this thought?

-What could be funny?

It all depends on how you look at it.

If you choose to see the situation from a different perspective, you can find something that makes you laugh. Imagine how many people fly all over the world on a daily basis. The thought of fear of flying is kind of funny;)

Be your own Guru

The best way to overcome your fear of flying is by being your own teacher.

You can do this by learning to meditate and by accepting the truth of impermanence.

By doing so, you’ll be able to accept change and death as part of life. This will help you overcome your fear of flying.

Your mind and heart will feel more at ease. This will make you less anxious when it’s time to fly again!

With knowledge, intention and curiosity to rise above fear, we can overcome the illusion of separation.

Franklin D. Roosevelt once said that

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

Take-away

You are right where you are meant to be.

One of the spiritual approaches about fear is given by the Kabbalah.

The ancient Kabbalists teach that everything in our lives is designed to bring us closer to the the awareness that we are divine beings making a human experience.

The obstacles we face, as well as the challenges that are in disguise as our blessings both have the ability to transform us. When we realize this, there is nothing for us to fear-we are exactly where we’re meant to be and things will get better with time. It’s painful when things change sometimes but it makes you stronger at the end of it all.
