Does Joy Affect Your Health Or the Other Way Around?

“When an inner situation is not made conscious, it appears outside as fate.”
~ Carl Jung

As the old cliché goes, laughter is the best medicine. It is just too bad that not all people actually believe it. If you are one of them, then, it is about time that you finally know how laughter can actually affect not only life but even your health.

Well, smiling and laughing is not that hard so why deprive you of it?

To convince you more, the following are just some of the health benefits of laughter that you will be able to enjoy if you just take that frown off your face and start seeing the world with a brighter perspective.

  • laughter relaxes the whole body. A good, hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress, leaving your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes after.
  • Laughter boosts the immune system. Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease.
  • Laughter triggers the release of endorphins. The body’s natural feel-good chemicals increase. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being, and can even temporarily relieve pain.
  • Laughter protects the heart.
  • Laughter is a fun and free medicine. This priceless medicine is fun, free and easy to use. Therefore, everyone can afford it.

See? Laughter has several health benefits. In fact, according to the book of Proverbs, a joyful heart is a good medicine.

On the other hand, the following are some of the benefits of joy:

  1. Joy and delight produce nitric oxide in our body, which provides a good flow of blood that equals the flow of life.
  2. Joy has a trajectory, so if you starve for 3 days, a simple carrot tastes great;)
  3. The biggest pharmacy in between our ears, which is the power of awareness heals everything and puts all our system in balance.
  4. In addition to the domino effect of joy and amusement, laughter also triggers healthy physical changes in the body.
  5. All thoughts create cascade of biochemical in the body and communicates with all the cell of the  body. Therefore, if you have happy thoughts, then your body will also feel lively.

The benefits of joy are just around the corner, but the challenge is how to achieve joy. Actually, that involves training.

Truly happy & successful people experience a sense of joy, purpose and passion everyday.

Use  NLP and energy tools to clear your unconscious blocks, programming, emotions and limiting beliefs, to tap into your natural ability to live a healthy passionate life.

The more you train yourself to be joyful, the better you become. Just like muscles, emotions need to be trained in order to grow stronger. In this regard, new NLP tools and EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique will help you a lot.

So, how would you like to live in ecstasy even when things around you are challenging? Well, it requires  intention and commitment to change what can be improved now!

Bear in mind that you can never separate joy from optimism.

The relationship of these two is just like the body and soul; without one, the other would not exist.

How can you increase your capacity for joy every single day?

  1. There’s a lot of confusion out there about the difference between happiness (external) and joy (internal) but you’ve presented the benefits of joy beautifully here Patricia. I often refer to cultivating joy as you would cultivate a beautiful garden. Thanks for the inspiration!

    • Hello dear Marti,
      thank you for your comment!
Yes there is so much confusion due to the philosophy of our consumer society, our education and the system we live in!
But as we know balance and joy depend on inner work and thank God depend only on us!
It is up to us to make conscious choices as business people and spiritual beings making a human experience.

  2. Patricia, as always, you are very encouraging. I think that joy affects our health. I have seen people who are sick and then aren’t as happy as they want to be each day because they are in pain…but the few who I have known who lived and died with illness had a joy that surpassed their daily lives.

Joy is eternal. Happiness is situational. If you don’t have joy, everything will be worse over time. Great article, Patricia!!

    • Yes Christi,
Happiness is external, joy is internal and eternal.
It’s about knowing how to be in peace, in balance and confident that everything happens for a good reason.
Gaining perspective when faced with hard moments is about being in our power.

  3. Patricia,

This is such an important concept for people to grasp. When we find a way to look at the bright side, feel the optimism and bask in the possibilities, we feel more pleasure and joy in life. My work includes body-mind awareness and gentle touch as clients explore the messages they are living in their mind and body. Often, as they realize what is really going on, laughter is a natural outcome, relief and healing effect.

    • This is really powerful Dr Erica,
healing with laughter was born in India and after that many techniques were born to allow the person to let go and transform.
Laughter is about being in contact with our divine selves and recognizing our eternity.

  4. Hi Patricia. I couldn’t agree more with you here! You know it’s funny that we mostly know all the benefits of laughter and we have many proof about how therapeutic it can be and yet, often it’s almost as if we deprive ourselves of it purposely! Sometimes we are in a discussion with someone we love and we actually tell ourselves; if only I could just laugh it off right now…we would safe grief and enjoy our precious positive minutes together. Great share! ~ Nathalie

    • Thank you Nathalie!
It has happened to be to save these moments and now that I know what laughter can do to us and to others I choose to share it with my loved ones.
Laughing is a great way to break the pattern and to change the drama queen state to mere joy and inner freedom—

  5. Hi Patricia,

Make time to laugh and play everyday – The Secret

It is imperative to enjoy life to the full it’s not a rehearsal and you only get one chance so you need to love it and enjoy it. Thanks for sharing.

  6. Hi Patricia
As the old saying goes: Laughter is the best medicine! I laugh a lot. I am blessed to have my husband that is also my best friend. We make each other laugh several times a day…no kidding!

I know it is bad, but we often people watch and laugh at people, making up stories about passers-by. We do keep ourselves amused.

I never knew the state of joy until later in my life. After so much re programming, I can now achieve that.

    Thank you Patricia,

    • Hi Donna,
I know you laugh a lot with David you are a blessed couple!
It is always about having the right perspective about life and living in the now.
As I say in my ebook ” It’s NOT about money, abundance and prosperity are about knowing what we want and getting the maximum out of life every moment, being creative and finding fun and original solutions to be well and feel well about ourselves and the world.
The rest, such as success, fulfilling relationships is a consequence of our prosperity mindset!

  7. What a wonderful explanation, Patricia. It is such a simple process, to express that joy in out lives. We are all born with the ability to do that. And when we reconnect with our true selves, so that our inner parts match up with our outer parts, our lives become even more fabulous.

  8. I am a laugher myself. This is such a positive message and really reminded me that I need to keep doing what I am doing. Thanks again Patricia! Have a great rest of the week!

  9. I like laughing a lot. In fact, my husband sometimes finds me too shallow as I laugh a lot watching funny movies. I just like the feeling of laughing, uplifts my energy and vibration. It’s good to know that it has all these health benefits too. Thanks for sharing, Patricia!

    • I am happy to hear this!
I wish we could see you laughing I’m sure we would laugh too with you as laughter is contagious is this is a great thing;)
Funny movies are a great way to focus on what counts, that is our well being!

Thanks for sharing your comment with us and hope to see you on our site soon and share more!

  10. I agree that the positive and happy thoughts will make you a healthier person just like worry and negative thoughts can have the opposite effect. Great post Patricia!

    • Thanks Beverly,
nice to see you here on my site!
and yes everything is about what we see, feel and say to ourselves, an easy way to tap into joy and inner peace and attract more of it.

  11. I love to laugh even though I am more of a smiling person, or a laugh inside person than a loudly laughable person. I always have believed that laughing is food for the soul. When I get a good laugh it feels like natures medicine. In fact I love watching the show, “The Big Bank Theory” at the end of my day. No one makes me laugh like Sheldon.

    • Hi Lydia,
      Thank for your kind comment;)
I do not know this show as I live in Italy that laughter but I surely understand you when you say a good laugh is nature’s best medicine!
The sense of joy relief and lightness that laughter gives us instantaneously is like going back to our childhood and our true nature.
